My former business partner / partner in crime Mike Baronas will be launching tomorrow (Sunday 6th January 2008) the DVD release of PAURA: LUCIO FULCI REMEMBERED. With the first 50 DVDs will be a limited edition pair of autograph sheets which, to be blunt, anyone into European cinema, never mind Lucio Fulci, will give their worth to own. Mike and I interviewed a huge wealth of people connected with Fulci, many of who gave their recollections of the warped genius on camera. To add to that, Mike came up with the idea of including an autograph sheet and all the autographs are original (trust me I was there) - and there you will find the autographs of everyone from Catriona MacColl, Paola Malco, Giovanni Lombardo Radice - even the ultra rare likes of Florinda Bolkan, Corinne Clery, Michele Soavi, and other a-list stars as well as some people only the fans of Fulci will appreciate - Zora Kerova, Sascha Darwin, and Veronica Lazar.
Since Mike and I stopped working together on the extras for Media Blasters - et alia (as some of our extras have turned up on UK, French and German DVDs !), and having gone our seperate paths to a certain extent, yet I hope, remaining loyal friends , Mike has pulled all the stops out and created a tribute to a director extremely close to his heart. I admit that my interests have gone elsewhere, but Mike has stayed loyal to the cause and created what sounds like a TERRIFIC composite of over two years of locating people - both by Mike and I, navigating four languages, and Mike's overwealming passion for the Maestro shows in this compilation. Mike's dream has partially come true. It was Mike who has followed his dream here, I am glad to have at least played a small part in helping him find and meet some of the people on this very special DVD.
