Universe Laser & Video Co. Ltd. is scheduled to release Yukihiko Tsutsumi's The Sword of Alexander (Taitei no ken) on VCD and DVD (NTSC, region 3, English subtitles) in Hong Kong on December 21st; the VCD and DVD are available for pre-order from DDDHouse.com (Haus Ltd.) for only $6.15 U.S. and $12.18 U.S., respectively. Toei Company Ltd. (Tôei K.K.) released the movie theatrically in Japan on April 7th.

The screenplay for The Sword of Alexander (Taitei no ken) was written by Akira Amasawa, based on the eponymous serialized story "Taitei no ken" by Baku Yumemakura. The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order on cast page of official website) Hiroshi Abe, Kyôko Hasegawa, Kankurô Kudô, Meisa Kuroki, Riki Takeuchi, Kôji Ôkura, Naomasa Musaka, Aya Sugimoto, Ken'ichi Endô, Masahiko Tsugawa, Hirotarô Honda, and Tôru Emori. Yoshitaka Amano designed the characters for it.
