I think it's a pretty good one:

Except that Drew left out the back brace.

Wait - I get it! It's cuz he's old, right?

Bingo!

ANYONE could've written "cane." :)

William S. Wilson - December 11, 2007 07:20 PM (GMT)
BAH! I want Photoshopped faces staring at me.

Bob Gutowski - December 11, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
I want Paul Freeman screaming in horror as his head is about to explode.

So it's a FLASHBACK, okay?

I'm a fan of Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg but I'm not in the mood for this. The whole idea of Indiana Jones being a father reeks of LETHAL WEAPON 4. The movie better not end with a family portrait. THE LAST CRUSADE is far and away the worst popular movie ever made. It was really nothing more than a pilot episode for a useless TV series. At the time, I fell for the Sean Connery casting but it was the wrong thing to do. Connery should have been Ravenwood (Indiana's mentor) not Jones Sr. Indiana Jones shouldn't even have a family. In RAIDERS, he was a loner, a solitary man drinking whiskey, researching and fighting. Instead we get this family guy, a surrogate Father Knows Best. There was a time when Harrison Ford wasn’t always fighting for his wife and family. He was better as a loner or a home-wreaker; STAR WARS, EMIPIRE STRIKES BACK, BLADE RUNNER, and WITNESS. Even flops like HANOVER STREET, MOSQUITO COAST and FRANTIC (the exception that proves the rule) use his persona to better advantage than his average film post LAST CRUSADE. I want to look forward to this new INDIANA JONES movie. Ford could use a good movie and Spielberg is a better director now than when he made LAST CRUSADE. Yet it looks as anonymous as any other movie out there.

Having written that, in Ford’s defense I don’t understand why everyone picks on Ford’s age. Now I’d expect Bob Gutowski to do it because he likes DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS over Franco’s CONDE DRACULA. But for everyone else, I don’t get it. As a kid I loved seeing John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Roger Moore and Charles Bronson making fun of the inexperience of youth. In the old days, Old men still had leading parts and no one thought much of it. We complain about the likes of Josh Hartnet in leading roles than when Ford (or Stallone for Rocky or Rambo) return; the age factor has to be brought up. Is there just nothing else to talk about? Am I the only one that would rather watch BIG JAKE at he drop of a hat?

To quote a song from the band A, "The old folks are losers, they can't work computers."

Agreed on all points, Jonathan. ESPECIALLY the Gutowski-bashing!*

*just kidding, Bob! ;)

No, you're right; I'm beneath contempt. Especially for my preference for COUNT DRACULA. :)

Barnett, you know I'd NEVER miss Ford back in the saddle as Indy. My niece's boyfriend was one of the Yalie extras last summer, and he did a stunt for extra pay - we hope he makes the final cut.

I do think you're on to something regarding Indy's status as "son", too.

(Jeffrey, I sincerely hope you're kidding!)

On one hand, I love weathered old guys as action heroes.
On the other hand, Stephen Spielberg hasn't made a movie I liked since JURASSIC PARK, and hasn't made a "great" movie since... TEMPLE OF DOOM?
On the another (?) hand, I'm not going to miss anything called KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.

Bob Gutowski - December 12, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
And exactly who does play "Crystal Skull?" Hope it's not Jessica Simpson!

Wow, based on that statement, we're not likely to agree on... anything. ;)
