Title: Original Japanese Version of VOLTRON Coming to DVD
Description: Media Blasters to release in 2008
August Ragone - December 10, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
Media Blasters announced at NY Anime Festival that they plan to release the uncut, Japanese language episodes of GO-LION and DAIRUGGER XV anime series, which were used to make up VOLTON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE. But due to poor sales of their previous release of GAOGAIGAR, Media Blasters is not considering acquiring distribution rights to any other giant robot anime series.

Brief change of subject---I was just leafing through the latest issue of the Village Voice movie section and noticed an ad for a new film titled MIDNIGHT EAGLE. It's a Japanese action movie, but very little info on IMDB about it. Just curious as to what it's about--the tagline is, "48 hours until the end of Japan!"

Poor sales, indeed. I didn't even know they released GAOGAIGAR. I'm a fan of that series but have only seen it on old fan-subs. I never saw any notice of the Media Blasters release, nor did I ever see it in any stores. Somebody slipped up there. (Granted, lots of new releases elude my radar--there's too much to keep up with these days.)
Were you at NY Anime Festival, August? If so, sorry I missed you. I was there, mostly pushing my book at the Kinokuniya Books table, so I didn't get to go to as many panels as I'd like nor circulate as much as I'd like. I'm planning to do a post on the festival, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
