Title: Well, I guess the new PROM NIGHT is now worthless
Description: What's the point?

Granted, PROM NIGHT wasn't very gory to begin with, but the remake has now gotten the PG-13 that it was assumed it was shooting for.
A PG-13 slasher film? I mean seriously, what's the bloody point?

To make money?
Seriously, PROM NIGHT without a Jamie Lee Curtis or Leslie Nielsen cameo is pointless.

How does one make money by releasing a slasher film without the slashing?
Unless it's been "reimagined" into a "psychological thriller".
I dunno, man.

I suppose in theory it would challenge a good filmmaker to set out to create a scary movie, not a gory one...
Marty McKee - December 10, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
What studio would hire a good filmmaker to direct a PROM NIGHT remake?
Craig Blamer - December 10, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
They could screw up and accidentally hire one.

I heard a podcast interview with executive producer/screenwriter J.S. Cardone and he confirmed what you probably already guessed: there will be an unrated DVD version.

Excellent. Now I can spare myself the trouble of seeing this, and just wait for the DVD.
Unlike with Lionsgate, who only put out the PG-13 version of SKINWALKERS. Very unusual and annoying.
Really, though. Producers and distributors have to get a grip on themselves with this whole "Unrated DVD Version" thing. Most of the times, what's put back is of so little value, that it's actually weakening the whole idea.
