"I’m pretty sure that, like me, Mr. T and William Shatner never played World of Warcraft, but they sure make some fun ads for the game."

Pretty funny stuff. I want to see David Carradine do one of these.

They really really needed Chuck Norris to do one. (Makes sense if you've played WOW.)

I think they should limit it to action stars that have had Saturday morning cartoon shows. So William Shatner and Mister T are good. Sly, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris have all had toons too (I don't think Sly was personally involved in his though). Unfortunately David Carradine is disqualified because he's never had a Saturday morning cartoon.

Hmmm...now you've got me curious. What other live-action stars had Saturday Morning cartoons?
There's Jackie Chan, of course, whose series is currently running. Going back some decades there were the Beatles, the Jackson 5 and the Three Stooges. Not to mention the rest of the Star Trek cast. Puffy Ami Yumi belongs on this list. Does Godzilla count?

Did Abbott and Costello and Laurel & Hardy ever have cartoon series?

Not counting entities like Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby-Doo and the Flintstones, who became live-action stars only after the cartoon series, who else would be on this list? There must be dozens I'm not remembering.

In Japan, they've done anime series about all sorts of historical figures, including the Trapp Family Singers, but I don't think they ever did a series on a Japanese pop star. (The Puffy Ami Yumi series was a Cartoon Network creation.) Morning Musume were animated as singing hamsters once as part of the Hamtaro cartoon series, but no Morning Musume animated series has ever been in the works. Too bad. :(

Let's see:

Louie Anderson

Johnathon Harris: Lost in Space (The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie) and Freakazoid (where for all practical purposes he played himself).

Most of the cast of Gilligan's Island (in one or another animated Gilligans's Island adaption) with the exception of Tina Louise.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head...

Yep. Bud Abbott himself provided the voice of "Abbott" in Hanna-Barbera's ABBOTT & COSTELLO with Stan Erwin playing Lou. Larry Harmon and Jim MacGeorge played Stan and Ollie in H-B's LAUREL & HARDY series, as well as a SCOOBY-DOO episode in which the silent comics solved a mystery with the Scooby gang.

Don't forget THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY 2100 A.D.!

The New Scooby Doo Mystery Movies has a plethora of celebrities portraying themselves:

Jonathan Winters
Phyllis Diller
Don Knots
Don Adams
Sandy Duncan
Sonny & Cher
Davy Jones
Jerry Reed
Tim Conway
Cass Elliot
Dick Van Dyke
John Astin (Gomez)
Carolyn Jones (Morticia)
Jackie Coogan (Uncle Fester)
Ted Cassidy (Lurch)
Jodie Foster (Pugsley?!) - Doesn't really count but interesting.
Moe Howard

Wowsers!

John Candy as head councilor of... CAMP CANDY! Theme song by Harry Nilsson!

Rick Moranis as sole human teacher Max Schneider in... RICK MORANIS' GRAVEDALE HIGH! While technically not playing "himself", Moranis' character was drawn to look like him, and he's pretty much, you know, playing himself.

If the AFI ever gives our Jodie a Life Achievement Award (and why shouldn't they?), they had BETTER include a clip of this!

I can't believe I forgot Camp Candy (I was never that fond of it though). I'm drawing a complete blank on RICK MORANIS' GRAVEDALE HIGH, but your mention of these two reminded me of: The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley.

It had Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flaherty, and Andrea Martin all playing characters that originated on SCTV. If I remember correctly Joe Flaherty's Count Floyd segments were live action.

Apparently, the World of Warcraft people aren't following that rule. A couple of days ago, I saw a WoW commercial with Verne Troyer on a tv in a restaurant, and there's also a French commercial with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Neither of them has ever had a cartoon show that I'm aware of.

Gary Coleman has some bizarre cartoon show where he was an angel or a ghost or something. I saw it on the Cartoon Network in the wee hours of the morning one time.

The only episode of THE SIMPSONS I've seen was because Lucy Lawless was playing Xena on the show.

There's the Ann Margaret episode of THE FLINTSTONES:

And all those classic moviestar toons that were on when I was a kid featuring Clark Gable, Bette Davis, and the like:

And don't forget THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS show:

And THE ADDAM'S FAMILY toon:

Also the Brady Bunch had a cartoon...
