This actually looks a lot more serious than I thought it was going to be and features some gorgeous cinematography:

Looks to me like the next BULLETPROOF MONK with that Seann William Scott wannabe flailing about. (Or DOA--paging Jaime Pressley!). And why the music from CROUCHING TIGER? Totally throws me off.

Oh man - looks totally old-school with cheesy villains, drunken Jackie, and plenty of excuses to fight! I've been totally out of the loop - is this in English? Who does the choreography? Looks like Ching Siu Tung. Too bad wirework just ain't what it used to be.

And Brian didn't you know about the Tan Dun trailer law? All Chinese historic film must use CTHD-like music in their trailers - sheeeesh. Just like all non-historic films must have the word "rumble" somewhere in the trailer AND at least five bars of Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting"!

Never thought I'd see the day when the prospect of a movie co-starring Jet and Jackie would make me shrug.

That said, I thought this looked kinda potentially maybe fun, if you keep your expectations modest. Until Jackie opens his mouth in the last shot.

Sigh. I wonder what's on TV?

Yuen Wo-ping is the action choreographer and Peter Pau the cinematographer. Sounds familiar. Who's the director? Oh, not Ang Lee...

It looks so "been there done that" but maybe kids will watch it and it will lead them to better films.

I agree that it is very weird (sad) that a Jet/Jackie pairing doesn't excite me anymore - the kid doesn't look that nice either (I remember liking him in one TV show or another)

Anyways I'll still watch it in theater God willing.

Btw, I'm wondering whether I'm getting jaded... You guys all have watched so many more films than I did, I shouldn't be feeling this disinteresed no?

This movie probably should have been made ten years ago. Then people would have been excited. Jackie has fallen out of the good graces and off the radar of many HK film fans, and Jet has been toiling away in action films that are just barely above the quality of DTV material. The magic is gone, and given how injured and broken down both men are/have been for a while, I doubt they'll be capturing it any time soon.

Weirdly, I would have been more excited over another Jackie Chan/Owen Wilson pairing.
