Watched Argento's THE CARD PLAYER last night, and was quite impressed. As with most of Argento's work, I have the feeling that it will grow with repeated viewings. Like his last few films, it has a curious non-ending which could well point towards some deeply hidden meaning.
The UK DVD includes a trailer containing a shot of Liam Cunningham in bed with Stefania Rocca - a shot that doesn't actually appear in the film. Anyone know if it's in the Italian version?
Brad:
I had an Italian-language copy of IL CARTAIO when it was still playing theatrically in Italy, and aside from Italian opening and closing credits, and Italian-language inserts when there's text on screen (such as when you see Anna initiating the game with the Card Player, or when he first messages her), the film is exactly the same as the Czech English-language THE CARD PLAYER DVD, which I BELIEVE is identical to the British DVD. The most curious change is that in the Italian print, the final shot of the film opens with text on screen that reads (I believe) "Some time later" right before Anna gets her phone call, whereas the English print has no such subtitle over this shot.

That's nice to know. That last shot with the phone call revelation always seemed rather abrupt after the preceding scene.
Yes, barring language and on-screen text differences, the Italian cut of THE CARD PLAYER is exactly the same as the English-language one.
The additional subtitle in question is the following (sorry about the large image):
