Giles Le Gallez - January 7, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
Just wondered if any one out there in Mobius land had any idea what BU are going to be up to this year.

I know there are lot's of rumours about The Blind Dead box set etc but does anyone have any definite idea about what goodies they will be sending our way this year?

Any information greatly received.

All I know is that I can not wait to see what they'll unveil for us this year! I am also looking forward to seeing this year's slate.

Catellari and Giallo boxsets is all I'm really hanging out for here, and maybe 'venus in furs'..Be interesting to see what more 'arthouse/indie' stuff Lustig can get his hands on, a nice version of Jarmusch's 'permanent vacation' would be good, or even a Penelope Spheeris 'decline of the western civilisation' boxset!!!?!!

OH MY GOSH, I was just thinking today about how much I would love to see THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION on DVD!! If Blue Underground puts it out, it will be the best day of my life.

DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION series director Penelope Spheeris has apparently been working on a DVD boxed-set of all the films (plus a bunch of new material) herself, and (tentatively) plans on releasing it this year, though I'm not sure if it will be entirely self-released on her part, or if she will be going through an existing DVD label:

BU are also reportedly working on a special edition to a particular US horror film that was once released in censored form in both the UK and Australia. It's already out on DVD (somewhere) but a BU edition would be an improvement. When I queried Bill Lustig months ago as to whether David Gregory was working on any more feature-length docos following GODFATHERS OF MONDO, the title Lustig mentioned in response came as a surprise. The Eurocult titles get a lot of attention but I'm sure a lot of fans will be grabbing this one when it comes out.
