Title: Rob Zombie remaking C.H.U.D.
Description: Cannibalistic Hack Uninspired Director?
William S. Wilson - November 8, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
Man, Zombie has turned into a total joke IMO. Going from denouncing remakes a few years ago to doing two back-to-back. From Dread Central:

This just in! Spoke with Rob and he confirmed he WILL be helming the C.H.U.D. remake!
Now this would be just plain weird ... But kinda cool at the same time.
Billboard.com just posted an article about Rob Zombie’s upcoming projects, everything from a White Zombie box set to the special edition of Halloween, and made mention in passing that the rocker cum director is attached to a remake of C.H.U.D.. |

Fine. Have a blast, Rob - I don't even have to pay attention this time.

Ok, I think I'm officially off of Hollywood films now. Honestly, in some weird way this is so much worse than remaking HALLOWEEN.
Domenick Fraumeni - November 8, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
I'll be holding this in the rumours category for now, but still... WTH?
Craig Blamer - November 8, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
Exactly... WTH? Different inflection, though. I mean, CHUD doesn't really stand the test of time, and wasn't all that successful when it came out.
I enjoyed it... but it still needed a little something more to consider it a good horror film.
Although I agree that it's an odd choice... carte blanche (but not a blank cheque) with the Weinsteins, and this is what he pulls out of the remainder bin?

The most important question is how will he fit a redneck family into the scenario? I can't wait for the dialogue:
Redneck #1: "I fucking saw a C.H.U.D.!"
Redneck #2: "No you fucking didn't."
Redneck #1: "Yes I did. Fuck you!"
Redneck #2: "Fuck me? No, fuck you mutherfucker!"

"I will come across this table and C.H.U.D-f**k you!"

I really don't know why anyone has thought of the obvious "perfect project" for Zombie...
A remake of MOTHER'S DAY -- it's full of white trash characters, foul dialogue, and is actually funnier than anything he could possibly make.
So, just forget that even I mentioned it.

Ya, C.H.U.D. was a pretty lousy film so I don't really care how badly Zombie massacres it if he ever does actually remake it. In fact, I think this is the kind of bad film he should be targeting if he's on a remake kick. However, if he ever attempts to rehaul BUD THE CHUD 2, I'll be seriously p*ssed!

The thought had occurred to me...

Perhaps he could start remaking Andy Milligan films.

Let Michael Bay do that. He's got the lashed-out self-loathing for it. And besides, can you imagine the totally awesome 'camera swirl' transitions?!

Which means Zombie's back on the streets - wonder if he'll make for Haddonfield...
Joel Stein - November 12, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
Maybe Sid Haig will push for his pal Zombie to helm the SPIDER BABY redo...

Crap, thought about this over, and that's obviously what's gonna happen. Why wouldn't it?
Domenick Fraumeni - November 13, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
I'd prefer Zombie over Jeff Broadstreet.
