After Dark returns this year with another Horrorfest. I really like this idea because it lets fans check out stuff that would usually got straight to DVD in the theater. For example, last year I got to see THE ABANDONED on the big screen. That was a real treat.

The line-up this year includes:

-MULBERRY ST.
-THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE
-BORDERLAND
-NIGHTMARE MAN
-CRAZY EIGHTS
-TOOTH AND NAIL
-UNEARTHED
-LAKE DEAD

Of those eight films, I have already seen BORDERLAND (very good depiction of the late 80s Satanic cult in Mexico). The one I am looking forward to the most is MULBERRY ST., which has some good buzz. Anyone seen any of the other films? You can view the trailers on the Horrorfest website.

I enjoyed the one last year and am hoping to make it to several of these this year. So far, according to the list of theaters they have, I don't see the one that's local to me on the list, which I hope will be corrected.

Last year there was a 9th film SNOOG DOGG'S HOOD OF HORROR. I wonder if there will be one this year.

This fest is a fun gimmick and certainly gives this group of indies a bit more or a push then they would usually be given by distributors. It must be working, too, as they stamped the DVD of Captivity with a "from the STUDIO that brought you the 8 films etc." banner.
