Just wondering, as I can't find mention of this anywhere....let alone reviews. My copy has shipped from dddhouse.....but I'm anxious as all heck about it, and would appreciate any thoughts anyone has on the overall quality of the disc....
Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm working on the US disc so that should it explain that. :) It's uncut with the exception of the typical frame cuts.

Just for the record Lynn, I do plan to buy the domestic disc once it's released! :D
I just couldn't wait for this. It's my most eagerly anticipated Shaw Bros. release, even topping INFRAMAN. I have both the domestic(very disappointing, despite excellent liners), and the R3 of that one as well.
For about $12 Canadian, I don't think I'll regret this purchase.
Thanks for your response.

Will the R3 DVD of 5 Element Ninjas be a PAL to NTSC standards conversion, also is the US Disc to be pure NTSC. What is the film telecined video source 1080p, 1080i, 720p at 50/60Hz?
Wattabout an HD-DVD release? Is that something that will happen?

The US DVD will be from an HD master. As for an HD release, that's something that could happen in the future, but I don't know of any US companies that have plans for that for Shaw films at the moment.

Got my disc in the mail today, and watched the first half. I'm no expert, but to me, the picture quality is revelatory. Seeing this film in it's Shawscope ratio is thrilling to say the least.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!
About the film itself: I'm noticing that whenever their is a new weapon, or ninjitsu technique used, the name of said weapon, or technique pops up on the screen. I find this really neat because of the claims made at the beginning of the film. Now, this would be really cool but for the fact that- not all weapons, or techniques are translated for us english speaking viewers. One scene in particular that vexed me is the introduction to the leader of the ninjas. The first word written on his fan, that he displays for the hero in that scene is translated as "PATIENCE", but when he flips his fan, we are denied the translation of the word on the opposite side! I'm assuming it must've been something of a slap in the face to the hero?
A nice disc nontheless. I'm hoping a thorough, and accurate translation will be on the domestic release? I've noticed some other mistakes(?) in the translation. In one scene, the ninjas are called just that-ninjas, but a few seconds later, they are referred to as samurai. That's just off the top of my head... Please Media Blasters.......get this one right. Pretty please!
I know, I'm really digging into this release, but this film really does hold a soft spot in my movie-loving heart. It's a thing from my younger years of renting the Vista VHS release, over, and over, and over again.
