Here they are, the new STAR TREK cast. I like how they tried to match the expressions on the new actors' faces with the old actors.

Aren't we sophisticated enough, or don't we at least pretend to be sophisticated enough, to tell the difference between Asian people and their specific ethnicities? At least when Sulu's daughter was obviously Korean, I could speculate that her mother was Korean. Are we just assuming that Sulu himself is Korean now? I suppose we're just playing to the lowest common denominator and not caring, huh?

After J.J. Abrams' notorious SUPERMAN screenplay, which would have resulted in the worst superhero film ever made, I can only cringe in sweating horror over where this movie is going. It's quite clear just from the casting that Abrams has either never seen STAR TREK or just doesn't understand it. The big scene where Captain Kirk has a big karate fight with a flying polar bear should be classic.

Now if he'll only let Simon Pegg play Scotty with the Michael Caine voice he does so well!
"Captain, I'm afraid...we haven't got...the thrusters working."
