"FRANKENSTEIN" a new "One-off updated version of the horror classic" is on TV tonight and caught my eye as I was browsing today's paper. I don't have TV in the house (long story) but the picture accompanying the review was interesting - the monster's face looks like the shark in FINDING NEMO. I can only tell you it's 90 minutes long with ads, written by Jed Mercurio and starring Helen McCrory as Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, a stem-cell researcher with a dying son...you can see where this one's going. Also stars James Purefy and Neil Pearson.

It's showing on Ulster Television (UTV) but no doubt can be seen across all UK and Irish territories either in that broadcast or on other stations. Perhaps someone will report back if they get to see it. Between this and the recent HYDE remake with James Nesbit, there seems to be a bit of a resurgence in gothic tv tales.
