Title: Franco's The Devil Hunter
Description: eBay madness for VHS

The Devil Hunter on UK eBay is garnering impressive bidding, reaching a price which shows how much collectors really do love their high quality PAL VHS pre certs (uncensored videos). The whole 1980s 'video nasty' thing that happened in the UK was alarmist, exciting, vilifying and draconian - and only now some 25 years later are some of those films playing uncut. Some are still banned (I believe The Devil Hunter is illegal?!), and others are still trimmed by the UK censors.

So let's celebrate a lost freedom (that the UK will never seemingly recover), and toast to the fact that, at least in the case of a VHS of The Devil Hunter, money can buy you the freedom to watch what you want!

I do hope that a non-botched DVD will be released that isn't some poor PAL-NTSC standards conversion (from a non film source) that companies like Media Blasters still issue. Who is sitting on the negative of this jewel of cinema? I actually have two Dutch VHS versions that I cannot let go for any price, at least until I can get a great DVD. That German Blood edition DVD is a mixture mess of PAL and NTSC to PAL within the same scenes, and there is some hokey unsubtitled (by inserting a big black box presumably) Japanese VHS released on a dodgy USA label available from Amazon. Any news of a proper release?
