Anyone see this last night? About 20 minutes into the show, a man started shouting off camera. At first it was unintelligible. When security proved to be a little lax, Maher ran into the audience to confront the guy (just as security arrived and dragged the guy out). The chaos seemed over and the guests resumed talking, but then more protestors started popping up in the audience. You could then hear them shout stuff like "9/11," "Building 7," etc. so you knew what they were going on about (Maher recently did a rant about 9/11 conspiracy theorists).

Anyway, in a perverse sort of way, it was really thrilling to see a live show get derailed. Live TV is so focused and controlled that these moments are few and far between. On the downside, you know these people will come back and do it again.

I loved Maher threatening to kick the guys ass. Something tells me he waited until security was already on him before blustering - I doubt he could take Stephen Hawking without help.

It's true, theoretical physics has been used to prove that Hawking could totally kick Maher's ass. :ph43r:

Well, Maher did joke later that, if the studio didn't have metal detectors for the audience to walk through on its way in, he probably wouldn't have been so quick to jump into the stands.
