A theatrical trailer for Izuru Narushima's Midnight Eagle (Middonaito Îguru) was added to the official website for the movie earlier this week. The movie is scheduled to have its world première at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles on October 2nd. It's scheduled to have its Asian première at the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) on October 20th; it's to be the festival's opening film. Shochiku Co. Ltd. is scheduled to release it theatrically in Japan on November 23rd.

The screenplay for Midnight Eagle (Middonaito Îguru) was written by Yasuo Hasegawa and Kenzaburô Iida, based on the eponymous novel by Tetsuo Takashima. The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order in theatrical trailer) Takao Ôsawa, Yûko Takeuchi, Hiroshi Tamaki, Eisaku Yoshida, Ken Ishiguro, Yoshihiko Hakamada, Nao Ômori, and Tatsuya Fuji.

Here's a synopsis for Midnight Eagle from ShochikuFilms.com - Shochiku's English-language website: "Amidst a blizzard in the Northern Alps of Japan, a battle begins that will decide the fate of 127 million people! In the skies above the severe winter conditions of the Northern Alps, a top secret American forces stealth bomber known as the 'Midnight Eagle' suddenly vanishes. Its payload is a 'specialized warhead'. If it were to explode, the entire nation of Japan would be hurled into an unprecedented calamity. An ex-war photographer who now only takes nature photos in the mountains accidentally encounters the incident, and gets behind the scene, preventing the weapon [from falling] into the wrong hands."

Here's a set-up for Midnight Eagle that was on the official website for the movie: "From: Yokota AB/U.S. Air Force ¶ To: The Pentagon/U.S. Department of Defense ¶ Subject: Midnight Eagle ¶ A stealth-type strategic bomber B-5 (code-named Midnight Eagle) that took off from this airbase exploded during a training flight. ¶ The explosion is believed to have been caused by an explosive placed within the aircraft by two orientals who secretly entered into the base. ¶ It looks like the Midnight Eagle has been missing near Kitakezawa in the North Alps. ¶ This aircraft carries nuclear warheads. It has to be immediately retrieved. ¶ Repeat: It is urgent that this aircraft be immediately retrieved."

Is it just me or am I the only one offended by Sheldon Warnock's use of Mobius to advertise? I don't see any valuable contributions other that cut and paste jobs no doubt identical to those posted on myriad other forums. He's clearly paid to promote this stuff and if I want news on these releases I know where to go. But this is a forum.

Speaking only for myself -- I guess I don't see all those other forums you refer to -- so I tend to find such postings as this useful.

He's hardly the only one. I say no harm no foul. I'm sure the moderators would step in if it were really a problem.

How does one "cut and paste" credits in roman script from a trailer (or, for that matter, a Flash website) that's in Japanese?

Your unsubstantiated accusation is, in fact, false. On the contrary, I pay a double-digit dollar figure in monthly hosting fees for my website (which hosts some material included/linked to in MHVF messages of mine), and those costs aren't defrayed by any advertisements, affiliate links, etc..

On what website can one get all of the info in English that I provided - for free - in my first message on this thread (the message that you've complained about), provided by someone other than me?
