Title: Quentin to do Swedish softcore?
Description: Oh, yes. There will be feet!

Wow. I called it.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml...tino.xml&page=1Two thoughts here:
--First off, while I felt that the foot thing was way too forced in DEATH PROOF, an actual softcore sex thing is just the place for Quentin to vent whatever it is that turns him on. And that's exactly what he threatens, er, promises to do here.
--I'm actually a big fan of the guy and really want him to not only keep working, but to be as prolific as he can. It's more frustrating that he takes such a long time to develop his projects. I know that Stanley Kubrick was unhappy that he didn't make more films and if Quentin breaks double digits some time well into middle age, he probably will not have been happy wasting all that time.

Tarantino doesn't "promise" anything of the sort. Here's what he says about it in the article you link to:
"If I actually do an erotic movie, I'm going to have to reveal what I find sexy, what turns me on. And when it comes to sex in movies, it's got to be kind of kinky, because that's what's cinematic, that's what's fun."
The operative word there is IF not WHEN...

I suppose we're splitting hairs over semantics here, but I wasn't saying that Quentin promised to do the movie so much as he promised a certain approach to this movie, ya know, should he ever actually do it.
I never assume that he's really promising anything when he mentions a project he'd like to do. As I said before, I sort of hope that he suddenly starts getting prolific. I'd be happy for him to do just about anything so long as he does something. A Swedish softcore flick is just as good as anything. In fact, it seems like it would free him up to do what he really wants to do which is make a movie that captures the experience of hanging out, shooting the breeze and getting it on.
But with his interests getting more and more esoteric, I almost wonder if he isn't going to drift farther and farther away from the mainstream position he once held. Obviously, I'd applaud anyone to follow their artistic muse, but I just hope that he always finds a home and complete creative control with the Weinsteins.
It's just that with the commercial failure of GRINDHOUSE, I'm starting to have my doubts. After all, the project clearly drifted over budget and that certainly wasn't the fault of Robert Rodriguez. And if I remember correctly, KILL BILL also went over budget and over schedule.
Again, I'd like to see the guy keep making movies, but he may have to learn to be a more disciplined or frugal filmmaker if he wants Harvey to keep letting him do things his way.

Even though GRINDHOUSE bombed (I still think they should release it as separate movies), KILL BILL made 333million on a budget of 60 million, numbers that people will remember for a little while.

And to further split hairs - and without the context of the complete article - his line...
"If I actually do an erotic movie, I'm going to have to reveal what I find sexy, what turns me on. And when it comes to sex in movies, it's got to be kind of kinky, because that's what's cinematic, that's what's fun."
... states that if he were to do an erotic movie he'd have to reveal what turns him on but since sex in movies has to be kinky to be cinematic and fun, it's not the kind of movie he could make because what turns him on isn't kinky, cinematic or (ahem) fun.

I wonder if Uma will be in it!

He should just go ahead and make "Quentin Tarantino's FEMALE FEET" already :)
Hell, I'd pay to see it.

I like QT as much as the next, but it could be argued that the quality of his movies declined as the budgets went up.

I think that's incidental to whatever feelings you may have about the shape of his work.
He's been able to make his films his way right from the beginning, and while indulgence itself could be argued as becoming increasingly detrimental, I don't think the budgets afforded that indulgence are the real culprits.
And hell - they're not that extravagant by Hollywood standards anyway. What's your average Rom-Com run these days?

If I say DEATH PROOF is my favorite Tarantino - I perceive that the quality of his films have actually gone up with QT's increased budgets...
This "argument" is as old as the movies themselves and still doesn't hold any hard and fast sway...
