Description: on FLIX and SHOWTIME

I caught the end of this groovy 1965 British Invasion film the other day and checked the schedules. It will be on FLIX @ Noon Saturday 9/22 & 5:30am Sunday 9/23. It's also on SHOWTIME NEXT @ 7:30am Monday 9/24 & 5am Tuesday 9/25.
It features clips of The Beatles, The Animals, Herman's Hermits, Peter & Gordon, The Honeycombs, Spencer Davis Group and more. Presntly it's MIA on DVD in the US.

I never heard of this film. And I should have. The IMDB says it was released in NYC on May 19, 1965. If that's so, it sure went under my radar. The ad says it was an AIP release. Maybe it was on a double bill with HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI?

I believe Flix may be showing it in its 2.35 OAR, which is unusual for them (which often shows 1.85 films, but rarely 2.35), but essential for viewing this film, so you can see all the band members on stage.

I wrote about this one year and one week ago at VIDEO WATCHBLOG (click for link), complete with screen grabs. This film is reviewed in the back pages of the new SIGHT & SOUND, so evidently it's out on R2 DVD from Optimum Classic.

Most of the movie (not the Beatles footage) was shot by Geoffrey Unsworth (2001).

I saw this on a double bill with the movie SOME PEOPLE, which the IMDB says was also distributed by AIP.
