Title: Dexter: books or show?

Lang Thompson - September 15, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
So should I watch the TV show or read the books first? Any opinions?

Linn Haynes - September 18, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Books first, then the show. Both are excellent, but the books flesh (hehe) things out a bit.

I look forward to reading the books as the show was an instant favorite to me. As I understand it, Season 2 will be taking its own course instead of following the novels, so I may have to wait until that's done to avoid confusing them in my mind. In either form, I'm anxious to see if Dexter ever has to break his code due to annoyances like Doakes or Paul Bennett.

There's a write-up on the books in the new RUE MORGUE. I found that at Barnes & Noble easily enough, but they didn't have any of the DEXTER novels in stock!

If you can't wait, first few episodes from Season 2 are available at the usual spots.

Well, I'm done with episode 2.01 and it appears one of those annoyances has been taken care of. Unfortunately for Dexter, new cans of worms have been opened and now he's got a slew of problems. It should be a very suspenseful season indeed!

I caught up with it over the long weekend, and I remain as captivated as ever. Our boy certainly has a lot on his plate, as it were.

I only wish David Zayas could act, as opposed to glower, which he also did in "Oz." Of couse, in "Oz," he also walked around naked, but...

Oh man is this show hitting it's stride.

That's what he seems to do in the books as well, although, being about half-way through the second book, it looks like we're going to learn some interesting things about him!

Has this been the case?

Chester Berne - October 21, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
It certainly isn't following the second book, even though it would make a great story arc if they did, poor Doakes!
