I've seen the show and own the first season on DVD, although I haven't checked out any extras other than the "proto-DR. KATZ" animated short film.

I always enjoyed DR. KATZ and thought the set-up was great, using the therapist frame as a vehicle for comics to do shtick which is then cheaply animated. Wish I'd thought of it. I can still laugh thinking of Ray Romano's reason for letting his wife pick her side of the bed to sleep on ("because on some level I'm thinking, when the boogeyman comes out from under the bed and grabs her, I can make it to my rocket ship in the closet") or Ben's borrowing the car and thinking it was a manual when it was an automatic ("Have you been shifting? Have you? Ben? Have you been shifting?" "mostly I've been honking the horn and saying 'HELLO TO THE LADIES!')

And Jon Benjamin as his son is is superb. Who knew he was just warming up for the sublime McGuirk ("Doctor, I smell burning eye") and Jason ("we should shoot day for night like Truffaut") characters from HOME MOVIES. Funny, funny stuff...

If this means they're not going to release Season Three, etc. separately I'll be not just a little pissed. But I love the show enough I guess If that's the case I'll have to bite.

I had to laugh at Amazon's "Better Together" deal, where if you purchase both the Complete Series and Dr. Katz, Season Two, you can save twenty-some bucks. Whaaa???
