Title: Sci-Fi's new FLASH GORDON(?)
Description: WTH?!

Domenick Fraumeni - August 11, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
An Absolutely mind numbingly boring 1st 30 minutes, No rocket ships, No Ming The Merciless, No Hans Zarkov... I just can't go on, right now.

Anyone else see this...thing?

I thought the scene where Flash went to Starbucks and ordered an Espresso Frappuccino but they mistakenly gave him an Espresso Macchiato was pretty tense. I mean for TV.

You sure this wasn't supposed to be FLASH THOMPSON?

Chester Berne - August 12, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
CRAPCRAPCRAP!

I could only make it through half of it, but to have Ming be a seemingly corporate drone? Everyone involved with this should be fired!

For this they canned 'Dresden Files'?

I absolutely refuse to believe that imposter is Ming The Merciless, Ruler and Supreme being of Mongo. If he's Ming, then I'm Madonna.

I never would have thought it possible to find a more vapid Flash and Dale than Sam Jones and Melody Anderson. I didn't even watch the last fifteen minutes. This is one of the worst TV shows I've ever seen. I can't even think of anything positive to say about it. Acting, script, FX, concept, characters, sets, costumes, locations--all terrible. And they didn't even have the decency to give Alex Raymond a screen credit (not that he'd want to be associated with this show).

I think I saw the Halmis names in the credits, which is always a bad sign. These are the guys who made the gawdawful MONKEY KING movie with Thomas Gibson and the equally gawdawful EARTHSEA. We now have their reimagining of THE WIZARD OF OZ to look forward to. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Check out how much love it's getting on the Sci-Fi boards:

I missed the show, and it seems I should be quite thankful. But looking at the cast pics on the Sci-Fi site, what the heck did they do to Zarkov!?!

I'm not even going to mention Ming.

I gave up on it and started watching my new Flash Gordon movie dvd. When I tried to watch a replay of the TV show...I ended up watching the DVD of th movie again.

Ming the CEO explained here.

Weep ye.

Chester Berne - August 15, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
Someone is working way too hard trying to justify this crapfest!

Richard Harland Smith - August 16, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen the show so I have to rely on the Sci-Fi Channel's website. (Did you know it's a "dramedy"?) The bio for Gina Holden, who plays Dale Arden, is pretty funny... she's a veteran of such movies as FINAL DESTINATION 3, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT 2 and can soon be seen in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 2. She's made a career out of appearing in movies nobody actually asked for.

Being a high rated debut is a lot different than being a high rated third episode. We can all be suckered in once, maybe even twice. After that...I'm just watching tivo'd reruns of eureka.
