I've been particularly obsessed with Paul Bartel's Eating Raoul lately. I re-watched it a few weeks ago and totally forgot how funny and amazing it is. I had always heard some talk about Bartel developing a sequel to the film called Bland Ambition...does anyone know if there was ever a script created? I'd be really curious to read it and see what it was all about.

According to the IMDB, in the trivia section, it's written that the sequel would have been about a man blackmailing the Blands with knowledge of the killings from the first film. It mentions that Chevy Chase would have played the blackmailer. That could have been really interesting!

I also found out, which I had NO idea about, that when the film came out, they released a one-issue comic book of the film! I found it on Ebay for three bucks...I can't wait to read it!

Dunno a whole lot about how far BLAND AMBITION got, but I have another question vis a vis RAOUL (which a Spanish-speaking friend tells me is the French spelling, by the way). I have the book for a musical stage version of the film by Paul Bartel. Was it ever produced?

I remember reading an article about the Eating Raoul stage play in an old issue of PREMIERE magazine, circa the early 1990s or so. I remember being pretty excited about the idea of it...although I knew I would never get to see it! I'm going to do some research into that and see if there is any bits of info about it anywhere. Where did you find the book for the musical? Is it openly available, like on Ebay or anywhere?

I wish they had made Eating Raoul action figures with frying pan-swinging action. Haha.

Wow...I just did a basic Google search on EATING RAOUL STAGE PLAY and got back lots of bits that seem to explain that it was indeed produced and performed in various cities. Here's an interesting article -
