Title: VICE SQUAD coming to DVD via Anchor Bay
Description: 2005 looks even better now

I demand a Wings commentary! From their coming soon site:

VICE SQUAD
From the director of DEAD & BURIED and WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE comes this exploitation classic starring Wings Hauser as the sensible and well-mannered Ramrod The Killer Pimp. A brand-new 16x9 widescreen transfer is being completed with new extra features to be announced soon. Look for a late 2005 release for this cult classic!

I was under the impression BU and gary Sherman was working on extras for this title, I would have prefered BU, so hopefully aB wount let us down on extras, as they been hit or miss on extras as of late.

VICE SQUAD was the best of the Sandy Howard produced crime yarns from the early 80s. John Alcott deserve kudos for making it look so good but undeniably the performances by Wings Hauser and Season Hubley made it THAT much better.

Anchor Bay's 2005 release roster does look really interesting. Beyond the previously announced titles it is also welcome news to see releases for the Roy Ward Baker / Bette Davis / Hammer black comedy THE ANNIVERSARY, Sergio Corbucci's THE HELLBENDERS, and William Girdler's final (and most elaborate) film, THE MANITOU.

I am in touch with Jon Cedar, who is the third lead of, as well as co-produced and co-wrote, THE MANITOU, i do hope they get in touch with him for a commentary or something.

I also know Wings Hauser personally, I should ask him if they have been in touch with him as well.

Excellent news! I definitely would love a commentary with Hauser.

I'm curious. This is such a rough film for an R rated one. Does anyone know if it had any ratings issues in the U.S.?

Walter,

Please make sure these folks get in touch with Wings. I would hate for it to turn out to be like the BAD TASTE fiasco (a friend of mine put them in touch with the stars for a commentary but AB didn't follow up).

Woo hoo! Wings gives one of the all time great performances in an exploitation film.

POSSIBLE SPOILER, I GUESS

There's a scene in there with a nerdy vice cop and a bunch of inner city hookers which is hilarious and which my friends and I used to re-enact at parties. Watch for it!

I think I remember this movie from back in the 80's? It's a little foggy, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, this is excellent news.

POSSIBLE SPOILER:

Is there a scene in this movie where Ramrod The Killer Pimp, brutally assaults one of his women with a coat hanger or something in a hotel room? If not, then I guess it was something else I was remembering.

OOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!

One of the greatest exploitation pictures of all time.

I remember seeing this first-run and then walking out of the theater feeling like the most street-wise white-bread 30-something-year-old in the Pacific Northwest. The grit of that film is contagious and rubs off on you forever.

Plus, it has one of the finest villain performances ever put on film courtesy of Wings Hauser. (Hard to believe this violent perv was the same guy who was on "The Young and the Restless.") Frankly, now that I think of it, the only other villain performance that stands out in my memory as having the same level of nasty impact is Henry Fonda in "Once Upon A Time in the West."

I've had this film on LaserDisc for years and treasured it.
