Read on another forum that supposedyly Argento has trouble with MEDUSA who has forced him to cut the film for its October release.
Let's hope a future dvd is intact, as Argento says that the film will be his "bloodiest film so far"...
Apparently Medusa is insisting on a "14" rating for the theatrical release in Italy, and there's some question as to whether Argento's "Director's Cut" will meet the "14" requirements without cuts. It's supposed to be a VERY strong film, both in terms of sexuality as well as the gore.
Over at the Darkdreams website, a collection of clips have been posted in the forum section, videotaped at the Fangoria show from the 20-minute reel that Argento previewed at Cannes. Although very rough quality and featuring some questionable dialogue (but really, what Argento movie DOESN'T have questionable dialogue?), I have to say this footage has really, REALLY whet my appetite. It's quite gory, although I'd say it fits comfortably within the R-rated quidelines these days (although a few years ago some of this stuff would've gotten an NC-17 I'm sure), and unlike the phony gore effects of NONHOSONNO, the stuff on view here is pretty realistic looking. I can't wait to see this film...
