Anyone else watching this on HBO?

Milch's production cost's are sure a lot lower than Deadwood, but I love the characters he creates!

As a surfer, a fan of DEADWOOD, and a huge fan of Kem Nunn's surf noir writing, I was really excited about this show. Of course, I have no HBO. But I did see the first two episodes while visiting my parents and really liked them. Of course, I have no idea what's going on and don't know if anything has been cleared up since those first two episodes (though I doubt it). But the surfing is nice (in real conditions -- not every day is a 25 foot monster wave), and I really liked Ed O'Neil's character.

Looking forward to the DVDs.

Each week the characters get a little more layered and a little more interesting.

I got a little lost this week with John transporting to visit other characters and then the big gospel session at the end....I was wondering WTF? May have to watch that episode again, because I must have missed something that helped it to all make sense.

In case you didn't hear, this wasn't renewed for a second season.

Most likely a good thing. While the acting was above average and the show was interesting, after a finale like JFC had, I can't imagine where they would possibly go with it in another season.
One of the quirkiest and oddest themed series ever ( HBO can use that on the DVD box if they want to! ).
