Title: TWO EVIL EYES (BU)
Description: Audio Glitch issue

I've been dithering for too long on this. The US 2-disc is a terrific set and knocks the UK release into a cocked hat by all accounts but I've been hesitant to invest. Fellow Mobian Vincent Perriera has warned of a serious line ommission that would undermine the ending of the Argento segment. Perhaps Vincent would like to reiterate the problem and make a case for a re-pressing or could it be an isolated or limited issue? Has anyone else been made aware of the problem and if there is an issue, are we going to see a revision. When you think of it, there are a lot of AB/BU titles that could do with fixing and I can see the day when someone has them all lined up for a re-release.

Considering recent interviews with Lustig, it's far more likely BU will cease to be in the next year or so. I don't think I'd count on them repressing a dvd from this far back.

The missing line is, when Sally Kirkland is about to turn the cat over to Harvey Keitel, Kirkland says "She's pregnant!". This is a pretty important line and is missing from all the audio tracks on the BU disc, even the "original stereo" 2-channel track. I didn't discover this omission- I had only really sampled the TWO EVIL EYES disc and watched the supplements myself- I was alerted to it by somebody else who found it, I forget who.

Damn, this is an important line. Shame it's not on there.

Odd...
I had the old VHS tape released here in the states of this and don't remember that line being in that version either. So I guess I didn't realize I was missing something. I don't see it as being a big deal when you see the climax.

---When we see the body in the wall with the kittens having their buffet. It's not a leap to say "OK, the cat was pregnant". Why is that such an important line of dialogue? Why do we need to know this in advance of the reveal? Or am I really that dumb??

END OF SPOILERS!!!!!!

I hope that was sufficient spoiler notice.

Hmm...I have the UK Medusa VHS in the attic. I'll dig it out and report back.

Well, it was important enough to have been included in the original mix of the film, and the moment when Kirkland says the line is set up and scored with a big music "sting" on the soundtrack, so obviously it was meant to make an impression. The music sting is still on the BU disc, but not the line of dialogue. I guess the point is (and has always been), if you're going to put a 5.1 remix on a DVD which can (and as we've seen often do) result in mistakes being made, make darned sure you also include the original soundtrack as a viewing option. Too many times the "original 2 channel soundtrack" has turned out to be nothing more than a downmix of the new 5.1 remix, mistakes and all.

Isn't it also missing the "They're eating her!" line as the detective vomits?
