Title: Anybody hear from Yvonne?
Description: Malaysia was hit by the tsunami also...

I didn't watch the news or listen to the radio at all yesterday, so I didn't hear about the tsunami until this morning's delivery of The New York Times. Apparently, Malaysia was hit by the waves also, but not as bad as the other countries. I'm assuming Yvonne's okay, since I didn't hear anything about Kuala Lumpur being hit, but I'm gonna worry until I know for sure. Anyone hear from her since this catastrophe occurred?

I have communicated with her this morning and she is alright, thank God. Apparently Malaysia was not hit as bad as the other countries.
God help to all who are affected by this catasthrope.

I just got an e-mail from Yvonne. She was safe and sound in a theater watching KUNG FU HUSTLE.
And to think that I delayed my holiday viewing of Shaw Bros. DVDs until I heard from her. :o
(I telescoped Yvonne's timeline a little for comic effect, but actually she and her family were in Penang when the waves hit and were about ten minutes from the coast, so my worries were justified. But they're all okay, I'm happy to report,:) okay enough, in fact, to all see KF HUSTLE later that day!)

Thank you to all of the Mobius family who have expressed their concern for the welfare of my family and myself (by e-mail as well as on this forum). We in Malaysia were generally far luckier than those in our neighboring countries -- and my heart goes out to the less fortunate.
Re KUNG FU HUSTLE: I actually went to watch it -- with my mother in tow -- the day after the undersea earthquake and tsunami occured. And it truly was the escapist plus entertaining fare that I needed to see after hours of viewing BBC and CNN news coverage of the disaster.
BTW, early in our viewing of the movie, I actually thought that I saw the screen ripple. Unless that was a purposely-placed visual effect (like my mother assumed was the case), I think that what I saw was the effect of one of the aftershocks that have occured in the hours and days since the 9.0 on the Richter scale main quake!
