I'm about to throw my entry into a fairly tricky film noir trivia contest. I've been able to answer all of the questions on my own, all but one, that is, and I'm stumped. I'd hate to enter with one missing answer and am hoping some kind Mobian can help me fill in the blanks. The question goes like this: "If you were thinking of having sex in the afternoon, and the room was kind of dusty, you would be near a (animal) in (film)?
Any smart guys out there?
Maybe a chicken is the animal and ANGEL HEART is the flick?
I'm not sure what was shown and what was implied between Anjelica Huston's lion tamer and Jack Nicholson's drifter in the remake of THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, and I'm not about to rewatch this turkey to confirm. However, "dusty" (as in railcar dusty) reminds me of this film and Huston's lions.
Yeah Erik, I thought of the lion in the remake of TPART, but like yourself, I didn't want to go back and rewatch. Anyway, the remake isn't one of the titles you're supposed to find the scene in.
Good creative idea John on ANGEL HEART, but again, it's not one of the included titles. Cock-a-doodle-do.
I considered the aquarium in LADY FROM SHANGHAI, but I couldn't assume that it's a dusty room, and it's probably not what they're looking for. I also thought about Elishah Cook, Jr. in bed in THE KILLING, but that scene is specified as taking place in the morning, and besides, you have to assume that Georgie isn't gonna be getting any.
Yeah, I know this might be considered cheating, but heck, it's a film noir contest!
So what titles are included in the list?
It's this contest organized by the Village Voice in conjunction with a noir retro hosted by revival house Film Forum:
