I finally made it over to The Egyptian in Hollywood last night for the second week of "Noir City," a 35-film festival of classic and obscure film noir titles underwritten by the Film Noir Foundation. Last night's double bill was Robert Siodmak's CRY OF THE CITY (1948) and Irving Lerner's CITY OF FEAR (1959).

Angelenos, take a break from the Grindhouse fest and hop on over to the Egyptian. You'll be glad you did.

I'm happy to see San Francisco's own NOIR CITY expanding to spread it's dark plague of Gumshoes, Gangsters and Gun Molls to the City of Angels -- the town of broken dreams and busted seams...

Is 89-year-old Marsha Hunt gonna show up at a screening of RAW DEAL like she did in San Francisco? I've got a friend who would fly to L.A. from NYC for such a treat.

(Okay, I just checked Richard's blog and, lo-and-behold, just as good--Coleen Gray for THE KILLING and SLEEPING CITY.)

THE "Czar of Noir." Eddie Muller sure knows how to put on a show.

Does anyone even know if any of these have shown on TV recently (much less DVD)?

PORT OF NEW YORK, THE BREAKING POINT, CITY OF FEAR, THE GLASS WALL, THE CROOKED WEB, THE KILLER THAT STALKED NEW YORK, THE MOB.

God I wish I was in L.A. right now! :(

Eddie Muller's Film Noir Foundation (FNF) (see link below) has just announced that FNF will team-up with the Seattle Film Society and bring "Noir City" to the newly resfurbished McCaw Theatre in Seattle, July 6-12th.

I live about an hour from Seattle, yippee!

Additonally, the April/May version of FNF's "The Noir City Sentinel" noted that some films to be presented at the Seattle Noir City include rarities like Sylvan Simon's I LOVE TROUBLE, starring Franchot Tone and Richard Quine's PUSHOVER, starring Kim Novak and Fred MacMurray. Classics include Phil Karlson's 99 RIVER STREET, starring John Payne and a newly restored print of John Stahl's gorgeous Technicolor Noir, LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN, starring Gene Tierney and Cornell Wilde. Eddie Mulller will be on hand to introduce many of the films.
