Title: missing PIECES

John Scherer - April 5, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
I thought I saw somewhere ages ago that the "classic" slasher film Pieces was going to be released on DVD. Is this something that was cancelled, still coming, or was I imagining things?

Grindhouse Releasing promised a special edition of PIECES four or five years ago. I'm still waiting. AFAIK, they still have the rights.

I just spoke to someone last weekend who was working on the disc, so it IS coming... he says it's almost ready to go. Remember, Grindhouse owner Bob Murawski has been a little busy for the past year or so on some silly movie about a guy who's been bitten by a radioactive spider. I hear it's already on it's 2nd sequel... never heard of it, though.

As long as there's an active thread on this at the moment, I might as well ask a question on behalf of a friend: has this score ever been released on CD anywhere in the world? My friend would piss himself and split in half if he could find a copy.

I haven't seen the film in a long time but I think the score was a compilation of CAM library tracks.

No soundtrack as far as I know...

A quick check to one of my favorite sites, "Soundtrack Collector", also doesn't reveal anything so I don't think a soundtrack was made. This site is pretty good at listings.

Although Grindhouse's release schedule moves at a snail's pace I always feel that their releases are more a labour of love rather than purely financial decisions. It's frustrating waiting for their releases of course, but at least you know they'll do the films justice.

Eric/Don:
My friend says thanks.

It was mentioned on the lovelockandload forum that PIECES' score was recycled from Stelvio Cipriani's score for RING OF DARKNESS/UN OMBRA NELL'OMBRA which was released on CD by Digitmovies.

Just chattin' with Johnny Legend this week about the biz and somehow the subject of PIECES came up. Johnny told me that Bob was hard at work fiinishing Kathryn Bigelow's THE HURT LOCKER and that the PIECES project is still happening and WILL be released eventually. It's just that his job as a film editor is taking up most of his time these days.

Bob, if you are reading this, I'd be HAPPY to release PIECES for ya! :P

Marty McKee - January 17, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
Mark, you better lay off the chop suey before you fall down!

It appears to be getting closer! Fangoria.com got a sneak peak at the new Grindhouse DVD artwork:

Nice! Great news about CAT IN THE BRAIN as well! Both will be essential purchases for me.

Being a film editor would have to be the most time intensive job in the industry! A wonder the bloke releases DVDs!

Hey, someone else who likes CAT IN THE BRAIN! That makes, um, two of us. :P

Actually Mark....um....I really don't like the film much, I'm just a hopeless Fulci completist. B)
