Title: Jess Franco Collection 2 from ABUK?
Jeff Billington - March 19, 2007 06:54 PM (GMT)
Play.com are listing this item for 23rd April.
"Anchor Bay presents The Jess Franco Collection 2, a selection of his best works now available together with digitally re-mastered picture and sound. Experience Downtown Heat, Down Town, Macumba Sexual, The Story Of O, Inconfessible Orgies of Emmanuelle and The Mansion Of The Living Dead as never before, with brilliant colours, clear sounds and technical perfection surpassing the originals by far."
Nothing mentioned on the Anchor Bay site, and I can't find anything anywhere else either. Anyone got any info?

Whew.
MORE Jesus Franno? I have too much Jesus Franco already, and yet... not at all enough Jesus Franco.
I'm a bit behind on some of the imports from X-Rated Kult and so forth, as well as the Severin releases, but catching up.
Looks like April is Spend Your Entire Monthly DVD Budget On Jesus Franco Discs month this year.
Aren't at least half these titles already out on Severin? Maybe they're conflated two companies' wares in that announcement.
Marc Morris - March 19, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
They are indeed coming from Anchor Bay UK.
Lon Huber - March 19, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
Ahhh.... Anchor Bay UK! I missed that detail. That explains the Severin titles, then.
Any word on extras?
Marc McCloud - March 20, 2007 12:38 AM (GMT)
I've preordered some of these for my store... didn't know that there was a box set though.

So ABUK is releasing DOWNTOWN before Dietrich's Jess Franco Collection volume of it? Is it from Dietrich's master?
With the exception of this and DOWNTOWN HEAT, the others are or will be available in the US. I think SEXUAL STORY OF O and EMANUELLE street in the US on the same day as the set in the UK.
Any info on BBFC edits?

So this would appear to have been released this week. There dont appear to be any cuts on the bbfc site. Anyone got this yet? Any reviews anywhere? Is the content the same as the US editions of some of these films? Are they in thinpaks like the first box?
Lars Erik Holmquist - May 25, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
I have the box here and I'll just tear off the shrink wrap... yes, they are slim-line DVD cases. I'll pop in MACUMBA SEXUAL... hm, no extras. In fact it seems like a pretty extras-light package. According to Anchor Bay UK there are no censor cuts and the image quality looks fine on the disc that is now playing in a window on my computer, so for the price it sounds like a good deal!
Jeff Billington - November 20, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
This is now available for the ultra low price of £15.97 at Amazon UK, so I have treated myself to an early Xmas present.
