Title: Must See Eurocult Music Video

Tim Lucas - March 9, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but it should be. It's a video by the Swedish retropop group Komeda (named after Kzysztof Komeda, Polanski's original composer) and it makes absolutely inspired use of one of our favorite Italian horror movies.

Go here.

And that means you too, Richard Harland Smith!

Sheer genius! B)

Thank you, that was amazing! I wonder if they chose this sequence simply because it fits exactly with the timing of the song? Love the absurdity of it all. Does Umberto approve?!

I've never seen the movie featured in the video. What is it? And why are all the cameramen in the TV studio wearing lab coats?

Tim Lucas - March 9, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
It's Umberto Lenzi's NIGHTMARE CITY aka CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD. Since YouTube has another Komeda video of the song that actually features the band, I'm guessing this video is fan-produced/unauthorized, but it's great anyway. I've never enjoyed Hugo Stiglitz more!

Makes me want to see NIGHTMARE CITY again - that's a crazy clip...

I don't remember that scene at all - but its been 20 years or so...

That was awesome. I used to make videos like that, pop songs set to a movie. That had a flair that mine lacked. One of them was Jess Franco’s SUCCUBUS laced with Pulp’s THIS IS HARDCORE. If only movies could be that fun more often.

As for the lab coats, I dunno. However there was a time when the engineers in a music recording studio dressed that way. They were not just techs but scientists.

This band (Snow Patrol) has also the same idea with Claude Lelouch’s cult 1976 "C'était un Rendezvous":

(The comments under are laughable...)

That is great B) . I'm seriously tempted to stick it on myspace for a bit.

Wow, I could really go for a hamburgher right about now.
