On the previous incarnation of this board there was mention of a possible special edition of Exorcist 3. Does anybody know if that project now been abandoned?

Morgan Creek announced a while back that they were unable to locate the footage from Blatty's cut of the film, so the SE won't be happening, unfortunately.

I have to wonder what TITLE they used when searching for those elements. If they called the vault and asked if they had any material stored for EXORCIST 3, they likely would've been rebuffed, since the movie was *FILMED* under the title of LEGION and any negative trims would probably be stored under that title!!!

Since it seems that almost NOTHING is thrown away when it comes to film production, I have to wonder whether the "lost" EXORCIST 3 elements simply have to do with the current folks at Morgan Creek trying to locate EXORCIST 3 footage instead of LEGION footage...

That makes perfect sense. It could be lost under LEGION. Or simply lost. It amazes me how much footage gets lost or misplaced from major films. Hopefully it's not because of politics.
