I've volunteered to collect and compile ballots for the 2006 poll. Todd okayed it.

Ballots should be turned in by midnight, January 31, 2006. It will probably take me a week or so to compile the results, but I'll post them as soon as I can.

Anyone from anywhere can vote. We ask for a maximum of 10 choices for best theatrical film of 2006 and best DVD of 2006. DVDs are easy - all 2006 releases are eligible: individual films, television collections, collections of shorts or music videos, concerts, etc., etc. Remastered or Special Editions of DVDs that have been previously released are eligible. You can easily check on a Region 1 DVD release date by looking it up on board sponsor Amazon.com.

For theatrical releases, we ask that you only list films that played theatrically in your area in 2006. For example, if you live in Des Moines, you can include a film that played in New York in December 2005, but didn't play in Des Moines until February 2006. You can also include films that you saw on DVD. "Theatrically" would include festival screenings and DVDs that may not have had any kind of theatrical presentation in your area in 2006.

I will assume - unless you instruct me otherwise - that your films are ranked in order of preference. Your # 1 choice would get 10 points, # 2 would get 9 points, etc.

Also, I would encourage everyone to vote. I will post this notice on all of the boards to encourage all of the Mobius communities to join in. If you have any questions, you can either post on this thread on the "Arthouse, World & Hollywood Cinema" board or email me.

You can elaborate and rhapsodize on your choices to your heart's content. Please see the 2005 Poll ballots, if you are unfamiliar with the poll, to see what people have done in the past. I pretty much cut and paste what I'm given.

To submit the poll, please click on my name in the upper left corner of this post. This will take you to my personal Mobius page. Click on "click here" by "E-mail" in the second column, which will take you to a page where you can send me an email. PLEASE save your original ballot before you try this, in case it is lost during the process. You can also ask me questions via this method.

A next to last reminder that the January 31, 2006 deadline is approaching. I, again, wanted everybody at all interested to submit lists. You don't have to do both; you can elaborate on your choices or not. The more lists we get, the more fascinating the reading is.
