Title: Knights of Prosperity/In Case of Emergency

Did anyone catch these new comedies on ABC last night? I'd been looking forward to KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY but I had heard nothing about IN CASE OF EMERGENCY and was pleasantly surprised by it. The pilot episode was funnier than the much ballyhooed lead-in show. I don't want to say too much about it since I enjoyed it cold. Both pilots repeat Friday night at 9:00pm PT.

Over on the FX network, I caught the pilot of DIRT, a very sordid drama about the gossip rag industry. Courtney Cox plays the editor of a couple of tabloids, one a fluffy "People" sort of magazine, the other, a much seedier publication. I would write the show off as exploitive trash except for the always interesting Ian Hart as a schizophrenic paparazzo with a dying cat. I may tune in again for him, but the show is pretty unpleasant. Two of the tabloid targets were played by actors who were really familiar but I couldn't peg. I checked IMDb because it was driving me nuts. The washed up Sean Penn-like actor was played by Josh Stewart, a regular on THIRD WATCH, his more successful blonde girlfriend was played by Laura Allen, a regular on THE 4400. Shannyn Sossamon also appears in the pilot.

I stumbled on "In Case of Emergency" and enjoyed it too. Who'd have thought Kelly Hu, of all people, could be so engaging?

I said it before on these boards, but it bears repeating. No sitcom with a clunky title like THE KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY is going to get good ratings. ABC wasted their time and money on this show, only to sabotage it with that title.

Now, LET'S ROB MICK JAGGER...people might tune in for that.

From what I've read, Jagger's participation dried up after the pilot, which might be why they changed the name.
