Title: Tinto Brass' THE KEY aka LA CHIAVE
Description: DVD question

THE KEY, MIRANDA, and Brass's cut of IO CALIGOLA are coming out on DVD in Italy (the former two as re-releases with English subtitles - CALIGULA does not have subs as far as I know). I'm of the opinion that the English track is the definitive one for THE KEY because it features Finlay and Sandrelli dubbing their own performances.

So, I know that Cult Epics' THE KEY was remastered but I've only seen the older version. How much of an improvement is the remastered version and is it available seperately from the boxed set?

Was the film pre-cut before it was dubbed in English for its canceled release by Cannon? Before the DVD came out I had two PAL tapes which were in English but had the Italian snippets (which are too oddly placed to be meant to hint at regional flavor). The Greek tape had only Greek subs for the English and Italian but the Australian tape had English subtitles "on the print" rather than video burned which suggests it played theatrically that way somewhere.

It's too bad Cannon canceled it considering they put out MATA HARI, LADY CHATTERLY, and BOLERO.
