Title: DEATH WISH remake trailer
Description: Rough trailer for DEATH SENTENCE

Paul Talbot - December 21, 2006 08:46 PM (GMT)
An unauthorized, silent foreign trailer for SAW director James Wan’s unofficial DEATH WISH remake DEATH SENTENCE with Kevin Bacon is at the link below.

The movie was shot here in Columbia, SC and is officially based on Brian Garfield’s 1975 DEATH WISH book sequel DEATH SENTENCE. I read the final draft of the screenplay and it has absolutely nothing to do with the DEATH SENTENCE book. Garfield wrote the first couple of drafts, which were vetoed. He was unhappy with the later scripts.

Warning: The trailer contains spoilers. (But none that would surprise those who know that the trailer is for a DEATH WISH remake.)

It is not bad. That falling car shot was jaw-dropping! That is enough for me to go watch the film when it comes out. However Bakon is no Bronson, I'd rather see an 88-year old Charlie do the role! He is greatly missed!

Hmmmm, interesting trailer. Does anyone know if this sequel novel revolved around Paul Kersey? Because the IMDb lists Bacon's character as John Hume. And if they are bringing Brian Garfield novels to the screen, I am surprised no one has remade HOPSCOTCH yet.

Interestingly, Stallone asked people in the AICN sessions about what they felt about him doing a remake of DEATH WISH. Amazingly, the response was mostly negative and in his final session he said he was abandoning the idea.

Please, after the truly, truly, truly awful GET CARTER remake, Stallone should stay far away from 70's crime movies. I can't even believe he was thinking about this. COBRA was enough. How about a movie in the vein of NIGHTHAWKS? That I'd see.

The DEATH SENTENCE novel was Garfield's answer to the DEATH WISH movie. He wrote it to clarify his stance on vigilantism. In the DEATH SENTENCE novel, Paul Benjamin (the surname was changed to Kersey for the DEATH WISH movie) realizes that it was a mistake to take the law into his own hands. The novel follows Paul Benjamin as he tracks down a copycat vigilante.

The plot and action in the new movie DEATH SENTENCE, although billed as “from the novel by Brian Garfield,” has no relation to anything that happened in the novel.

However Bakon is no Bronson...

Yeah - "Bakon" can actually act... ;)
