A friend of mine asked me about a movie, and from what little plot details she gave me, I have to admit that I'm stumped.

Apparently, a young, rich girl lives on an island with her family. While away at school she basically grows up, meets a guy and they get married. The parents have died, and so she inherits everything. The couple move back to the family estate. The girl remembers a rundown wing of the mansion which she was never allowed to visit. She hears noises and investigates. She looks through a window or door and sees a "reflection" of herself peering out, although ratty and in dirty clothes. Turns out she has a twin sister who is better left locked up...

The plot sounds familiar, even cliched, but I haven't a clue. She said she saw it as a kid in the late 60's-early 70's, that it was in color, and that the heroine was blonde. That's all I had to go on. I am thinking (though I haven't seen it) that the film might be ENDLESS NIGHT. The synopsis I've found is fairly close, but... Hopefully, one of the Mobius experts can help solve this riddle. TIA.

Um...THE PARENT TRAP 2: THE AMNESIA YEARS?

Definitely sounds like THE SHUTTERED ROOM starring Oliver Reed, Gig Young, and Carol Lynley, though the twin sister isn't a "reflection" but a monstrosity.

Thanks very much for the info, guys! My friend will be thrilled when I tell her. There's nothing worse than being haunted by a movie from when you were a kid and growing up to know nothing about it. On her behalf, I say thanks again.

Note to Gerry: my friend didn't exactly say that she saw a "reflection", but she did indicate that you could tell it was the same actress only very dirty and haggard looking. I hope this is the movie she's been looking for; to be honest the clues she'd given have kinda been tormenting me, too!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that you gave me the correct movie. My friend was overjoyed, so I just wanted to say Thanks again! Have a great Christmas!
