Description: Any good?

I was thinking of getting this book through ILL. It's written by Stephen Thrower. I was wondering if it is any good? It appears to have good write ups and such, but first hand comments never hurt. I really love THE BEYOND ( for me its a legit masterpiece) and Zombi 2 is a lot of fun and Conquest (well ...um its Conquest lol). I would love to see an indepth treatment of his works and theme. I recently ordered the Anchor Bay Fright Pack set which will have House By The Cemetary (which was cool with a great score if sorta confusing) and City of the Living Dead (which I have the score too but not the film). So is the book worth tracking down?
Oh btw what is the definitve zombie cinema book?

It's well worth it - one of the best written accounts of Euro cult films I've come across. Definitely avoid the sections on films you haven't seen, though, as it's spoilerific.

Count me in as another fan of the book. It has proved in invaluable resource in my disseration. Well written, though I think I would have perferred the films to be discussed chronologically instead of by theme, and insightful, the book is well worth the cost! If you enjoyed some of the other Fab Press books you'll definitely enjoy this one.

I am very happy to own the hardback edition of this great book. The only problem I have with it is that it trashes a few films that I love- THE NEW GLADIATORS if I remember well. But I still love it anyway. Wish there were books like that for more Italian cult filmmakers. Let's see if anybody will do one for Bruno Mattei :)

I have the softback, it's a brilliant book- nice to see what he'd done PRIOR to the horror/gore era. Very informative, great reference-- and excellent photos/film poster reproductions.

Though I literally just yesterday moved my stack of FAB Press books off my shelf and into a cupboard after realising that I'd likely never read them again, the
Beyond Terror book is excellent and their later
Book of the Dead: The Complete History of Zombie Cinema by Jamie Russell is probably (for your purposes) the best book on zombie movies that you'll find. All their books are typically worth tracking down.

Superb book - I just dip into now and again to read little bits and pieces when the mood takes me, but it's wonderful and I have no doubt that it could easily be read cover to cover and be just as enjoyable.
