The Grindhouse Film Festival returns to the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 24th, with a double-dose of brain-melting, mind-boggling horror to help celebrate the Halloween season. This special event will feature screenings of rare 35mm prints of THE FOREST (1983) and DON'T GO IN THE WOODS (1982), with director James Bryan on hand to introduce the latter film. Don Jones was originally scheduled to introduce THE FOREST, but unfortunately has been forced to cancel due to other obligations (we'll have him down another time for one of his other films). In the past we've warned you not to go near parks or in houses, and now with these two films we'll be showing you in graphic detail how dangerous camping in the wilderness can be.
This screening will be held in conjunction with new cult video label Code Red DVD to celebrate the release of both films in brand new special edition DVD's. Check out the
Code Red webpage for more info and be sure to look for the recently released DVD of DON'T GO IN THE WOODS and the upcoming DVD of THE FOREST, available in early November. We'll also have some copies of DON'T GO IN THE WOODS available for sale at the screening, which you'll be able to get signed by director James Bryan and possibly by some cast members (we're still awaiting confirmation on some additional guests).
The films will be preceded by an incredible reel of rare exploitation trailers and our world-famous free raffle, for the low low price of only $7.00!
