Title: Blue Underground's MONDO CANE now at bargain price
Description: ...at least here in Canada

John Charles - October 12, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
The Canadian company sub-distributing Blue Underground and Anchor Bay product has put a bunch of horror/exploitation titles on sale, including BU's amazing 8 disc Mondo Cane set, which has been marked down from C$225 to...C$19.95! THE BLIND DEAD COLLECTION is also now just $19.95, and DAWN OF THE DEAD: ULTIMATE EDITION is $21.95. Other steals include THE FINAL COUNTDOWN (2 disc version), TO THE DEVIL A DAUGHTER, THE MAN WHO HAUNTED HIMSELF, ZOLTAN THE HOUND OF DRACULA, THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW, RETURN OF THE KILLER TOMATOES, CIRCUS OF HORRORS, HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD, and ROAD GAMES for $3.99 each. A handful of other titles, including C.H.U.D., DAY OF THE DEAD 2: CONTAGION, RETURN TO HORROR HIGH, MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN, and SLEEPAWAY CAMP, are $5.99.

I'm not sure if this sale is exclusive to the Cinema 1 chain. Are these titles marked down in the U.S. as well?

DAY OF THE DEAD 2: CONTAGION

I think you mean CONTAGIUM. C'mon, it's a way cooler word than CONTAGION. Say it with me... con-tay-gee-yum. Sounds like a dance party for zombie debutants.

$19.95 in Canadian money...that's like 97 cents here, right?

Adam Tyner - October 13, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
I know that was a rhetorical question, but the answer's $17.61 anyway.

Some of the Mondo Cane set had been sold separately in the US as three-film bundles for something like $15. At least that's what I remember paying for one, though Amazon has slightly higher prices. That small set was all I needed since I can't imagine ever watching Goodbye Uncle Tom again.

Would someone be kind enough to provide a link or a web address? And I know this is a silly question, but these would be Region 1 discs, yes? I've never ordered from north of the border before.
Thanks in advance!

Cinema 1 does not sell their discs on-line, unfortunately. Yes, Canada is Region 1 as well. The set is identical to the U.S. release, save for the addition of a small maple leaf beside the number on the back. I'm not sure how many were pressed for Canada, but my copy is #1673.

I looked up their site, and they did sell DVDs online - but at the full price unfortunately.
