Description: Did my procrastination pay off?

Is there anything missing (in terms of extras) from this new set? If not, then I'm glad I kept putting this off as this is much easier on the wallet.

I sure am glad I bought the original season sets at $70-$80 a pop. Uh, wait, no, I'm not.

P.S. This new set is about $30 cheaper at Deep Discount DVD.

I don't believe there is anything missing content wise since it has all 28 discs, so It's just all the seasons in one big box, minus the Book that came with Season 1. I bought season 1 when it came out and put off the other seasons, but now it's cheaper to just but the complete series Vs. the other 4 sets I don't have.

Marty, at lease you just paid more and the didn't add an exrta disc or anything cool, unlike the new GREATEST AMERICAN HERO set

Thanks for reminding me. I bought all three seasons of GAH individually too. And look where that got me: royally screwed by Anchor Bay the same way Image did. Arrrgghhhhhh!

Deep Discount DVD has the TWILIGHT ZONE ultra-box for about $195 smackos, probably the quantity/quality deal of the year. Disc-for-disc, the 35-disc upcoming M*A*S*H - MARTINIS AND MEDICINE is even cheaper, at about $140, and will be equally indispensable for me.... but even that can't quite beat the BUFFY - CHOSEN COLLECTION which weighs in at a hefty 40 discs.

Both the Fox sets contain bonus discs and are much cheaper than buying individual seasons at the time of first release. So in that way yes, you're "screwed"... the cheerier way to look at it is that you got to watch those DVDs for a few years before those who held out. Also, these TV mega-gorge sets are great ways to free up shelf space, if nothing else; the BUFFY- CHOSEN COLLECTION takes up about as much room as three of the original single-season boxes. I hope the ZONE box is similarly slender.

Related news: I'm not getting off the couch for the rest of the year.

When's the next big Deep Discount sale? :D

On a similar note (regarding subsequent releases)... I started picking up the X-Files boxed sets about a year and a half ago - always on sale - I could never justify spending $90+ on a single season of any show (i don't care how "great" it is... hey - i work in radio - i gots to eat). Shortly after I bought season four, Fox decided to reissue the seasons in slimmer boxes minus the bonus disc at half the retail cost.

So now I have the dilemma of having mis-matched boxed sets on my shelf. Oh, the humanity...

Chris,
I just got the new TZ set today and the good news is that the set is much slimer than the seperate sets, but there in Smallville style digipacks one per season and in a box like the other sets. Now I don't now if it's just the one I got but the plastic pages that hold the DVD are not glued in good and at least one per season are falling out, anyone eles have this problem? I would have rather them just use double slims to make it smaller, but I just hate all digipacks since the Alien Quad.
I'm going to have Amazon send me another one hopefully it's better constructed.

Agreed, the new packaging is absolutely not designed to endure. As always, we get what we pay for. To anyone who really wants to keep these discs in good condition indefinitely, I'd suggest buying the existing separate sets.

Uh, that or a bunch of empty slimline cases. The COMPLETE COLLECTION costs less than half as much as buying the seasons individually. Digipaks bite it, and I don't see any other way to look at it. Besides the glue problems, the card stock is far more prone to getting scuffed and corner/edge bumped over the years, unfolding anything more than three discs is ridiculous. Maybe worst of all, if the gripping hub or media tray breaks, your entire packaging is wrecked; with Amaray cases, you can just buy a new one.
