Hello
I recently saw that there is a French dvd of Bava's KILL BABY KILL entitled OPÉRATION PEUR - EDITION SPÉCIALE, released by Warner Vision in 2005, which from the video captions I've seen, seems to be equal to the German Anolis release, at least in terms of picture sharpness. It is in 1:85 ratio in French spoken.
Any opinions?
The Warner Vision release isn't that new. It's the Neo Publishing release that came out a while ago (the Warner Vision France logo is on the back bottom corner of my copy while Neo is on the front bottom corner). It's anamorphic with French and Italian audio (the Italian dub sounds better than the English one). I like the disc but apparently the color reproduction is not accurate (though better than the Australian anamorphic disc from the caps I've seen). The best one as far as color is concerned is the Japanese out-of-print release but the French one is worth it if you can get it cheaply (it comes in a nice slipcase).
BTW, Dark Sky now lists KILL BABY KILL as upcoming (along with "Jess Franco's COUNT DRACULA") in their latest catalogue insert (found in their TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE set) so hopefully we'll hear something soon (hmm, Tim?).
It seems that the German ANOLIS relase is still the best version so far.
The videocaptions of the Japanese version I've seen is murkier, although the colours are more prominent?
The ANOLIS version would have been almost perfect if they had supplied an English language track also the death-scene of Ruth is culled from a much worse print, other than that it is excellent.
I've ordered the French version, as I'll get hold of it fairly cheap.

I recently received my copy of this disc, and though the ANOLIS release is superior, more colours, clearer, still, this French dvd is pretty good.
The image is darker, murkier, but still quite good, much better than the Aussie release.
There are English and Italian trailers which seem to utilize the same print as the ANOLIS one, let's hope that the RED SKY release will be equal to the ANOLIS one, plus with an intact ending scene.
