I love this show and I was pretty happy with the premiere, though I thought it was a little disappointing but that's probably from me building it up so much. I think the flashbacks aren't working as well anymore. They either need to cut them down some or give them more substance. The ones last night didn't really do much for me. I think the first few minutes were great as well and I'm eager to see how the season progresses. There's a lot in the air.

I think the show 'lost 'it last season, or more precisely half way through the first season after it attained hit status. After the first 5 minutes last night I felt like "Great, more annoying characters that I don't care about to waste time with ". Last year it was the idiots from the tail section, and now this whole village. The show has ZERO respect for it's audience and is a complete sell out to the network, although to be fair, ABC owns the show and forces the producers to pad endlessly, drag everything out interminably, hoping they'll have a 'hit' for 10 years.
The flashbacks are a complete gimmick and beyond annoying at this point. The whole drama with Jack and his wife and who the new man in her life is was tired, pointless and had nothing to do with anything anyone cares about. I am also disgusted with the revisionist history the producers now float about how they had it all planned out from the beginning, when that is a bald faced lie. They may have it all planned out now, but certainly did not when it all started. And there could have been a satisfying conclusion to the story as it began, but with all the hocus pocus horse s*** they pile on week after week, the constant introduction of new characters, and all the new exciting romance and adventure they have planned for this season, this show is doomed. I gave up expecting the show to resolve anything or provide a plausible explanation for what's going on last year, and now watch out of a masochistic impulse I cannot control, wondering just how far the show will fall from it's original promise.

Actually, I liked the whole idea of the village, if they do it right it could be very interesting.

I am, however, sick of Jack and think he should be eaten by the polar bear!
