Title: South Park Season Premiere
Description: Funny? Or am I just a WoW Fanboy?

OMGWTFBBQ!

I gotta tell ya, I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole SP season premiere! I am an ex-World of Warcraft addict and, yeah, by addict I mean I played EVERY day for at least 3-4 hours a day.

It captured the "mania" of the game so damn perfectly... that scene where the uber-powerful guy is introduced and he runs up and starts dancing... I lost it... I actually almost spit up!

Oh sure, being the WoW guy, I did notice some GLARING fanboy errors in the episode... you couldn't just hand over an already equipped cape to someone else... and they never could've powered up the way they did because, eventually the boars would've stopped giving experience points, but, hey... the episode was classic! Also, Stan would never have been allowed to have "LovesToSpooge" as his character name... Blizzard's thugs actually even made me change my original character name of "Lovedump" to something else!

It was hilarious that they actually had graphics from the actual WoW in-game graphics engine, too...

Oh how I miss my old guild buddies now... the BRINGERS OF BLOOD

For more WORLD OF WARCRAFT hilariousness, watch this classic video of an actual ingame player getting a little over-enthusiastic and killing all his friends (the narrator is EXACTLY like Cartman in the episode, too... cracks me up):

Since Don was so brave, I am going to out myself as a WoW addict as well. It's been on again/off again with me, and much to my family's displeasure it's been on for about two months now. I play to lighten my stress load, and since I'm doubling my store's size this month, I'm plenty stressed!

I thought it was a great episode as well. I've never played the game but I've seen the mania surrounding it at times and how seriously people take it. Have you seen the footage of the clan or whatever that takes out the funeral memorial? I remember people being in a huge uproar about that. I've seen the Leroyyyyyyyyyyy Jenkins clip a couple of times and it's great. I've even had friends who have gone on e-bay just to buy gold or power or odd stuff like that for the game. So it was a good subject for them to tackle. I hope the rest of the season is as great or better.

I know absolutely ZERO about WOW and its subculture but I still found the episode hilarious.

It was easy enough to extrapolate what you needed to know, and the graphics were a riot (esp. Cartman as the dwarf) -- though nothing will ever match the anime episode graphics in terms of putting the kids in a different setting, maybe because it was the first time and we hadn't seen them do anything like that before.

Hope that goes well, Marc. I can certainly relate to being stressed about that!

I must watch SP tonight. This sounds like a classic.

I'm a guild officer on an Oceanic server, and I have another 60 in a raiding guild on a US server, so I can play hardcore in both time zones. ...So, yeah, I guess I qualify as a WoW addict, too. ;) But, I still somehow manage to continue to run my business and make my movies, so it's all good.

I enjoyed this episode, though I thought it dragged a bit in the middle. Cartman's raid leader TS speak was spot on; and the "how do you pass something from one player to another" was a great moment.

I'm pretty sure that Leeroy Jenkins vid is fake (well, preplanned to be a funny vid with the entire group in on it), though. Listen to some of their pre-fight strategizing... "Hey, _____ (whatever the guy's name was), can you give us a survivability rating?" "Yeah, I'm crunching the numbers now... I'm getting a thirty-three point two percent chance of survival." What? What kind of B.S. pseudo-WoW-science is that? That's worse than some of the stuff I was just reading in the cop show thread on this forum. ;)
