I watched the episode on the Thin Man box set and was surprised that it was actually entertaining, not good exactly but fun. Some of the humor came off as intended and the beatnik stereotype was a blast. You could figure out the killer almost immediately (not much room for complexity in a half-hour show) and Nick & Nora are pretty much different characters than the movies.
So has anybody else seen any more? When TV Land first started I had hopes it would have these older shows but alas it was not to be.
It ran for 2 seasons/75 episodes. By the standards of the time I wonder if it could be considered sucessful? Did its run end because of ratings or Lawford wanting to move on? Today, of course, 75 episodes, is 3+ years, good enough for syndication (and thus successful enough).
I remember the show fondly. As a child of eight, I thought Peter Lawford as Nick Charles had it all: a smart dog, a luxurious Manhattan apartment and the beautiful Phyllis Kirk as his wife, Nora.
