Title: Media Blasters' EMANUELLE & THE LAST CANNIBALS
Description: Any issues with this disc?

A sudden craving to re-experience the wonders of Joe D'Amato's junk masterpiece EMANUELLE & THE LAST CANNIBALS came upon me this weekend, my enthusiasm tempered slightly by the discovery that Media Blasters are the distributors of said DVD in the US.

Now, before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I have any particular axes to grind with MB, I'll state for the record that I've found their discs to be pretty good, in the main (although the last instalment of the FEMALE PRISONER SCORPION series looks utterly dire, a problem with the lousy master they were provided with presumably)...LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN being the notable exception, but let's not open that can o'worms again. Still, quality control has been dubious amongst certain MB Eurocult titles and it was with this worry in mind I thought I'd solicit opinions of worthy Mobians frequenting this board as to pic/audio quality of their LAST CANNIBALS offering.

If the MB disc is lacking, which other region(s) offer superior transfers/extras? The French disc is probably a decent disc, but only has Italian/French dub options (not that the English track is anything other than dire, of course, but it somehow complements the film)...and I think there was an old Dutch disc (?) which offered Nino Fidenco's score as an extra (unless my memory has finally packed in altogether).

Recommendations, anyone...?

I had the old Dutch disc and gave it to a friend. I got the MB disc thinking I was upgrading. Wrong choice?

I rented this and thought it was a decent release of a marginal film, although it played back at the wrong ratio for me ( like SS's BEYOND THE DARKNESS ) but I was able to change the settings on my player and it was corrected. Not sure why that hapens though, the only other title I experienced this with was Retro's DEATHMASTER.

I didn't have any problems with DEATHMASTER, so perhaps your difficulties were a one-off.

Thank you, one and all, for the responses. Looks as if the MB edition gets a thumbs-up (or at least, not a thumbs-down).
