Title: The Night Evelyn Came Out on DVD...again
Description: New German DVD release

I'm curious if anyone has seen the new German release of this on the X-Rated Kult label. They've put out a lot of great-looking gialli and I'm sure this one's better than the US DVD. But much to my disappointment I've read the new disc is 1.85, and I was sure the film was shot Techniscope, aka 2.35. I've been waiting to find a correctly framed version in order to dump my old vhs. Anyone know if this oft-released title has finally been properly presented?

I'm sure I read about somewhere that a R1 version is coming out from Image Entertainment sometime next year. The two current R1 versions are dreadful. Can't help you with the R2 release though. Maybe someone could clarify about the possible future R1 release???

I have the R2 release and it looks nice apart from some shots not tinted for night and some audio looping and some brief dialogue missing altogether from the English track (though this scene and the looped scenes were present in the English language releases). The transfer is also clear enough to see the lead of the band playing during Erika Blanc's coffin striptease singing (he's really rocking out up there) even though no vocal is heard during the entire sequence. The title sequence looks like it came from an actual German print (no video burn German title and, fortunately, no altered credit music as seen on their releases of TORSO and SCHOOLGIRL KILLER).

In MHVF's absense, there is a rather extensive posting about this release as well as comparisions of other DVD and VHS releases at the Modern Italian Horror forum at www.latarnia.com. It's well worth checking out for those interested in this title.

It was shot in Techniscope even though the X-rated release is in 1.85 (and non-anamorphic despite what it says on the cover art).

Hopefully, Image will put out the 2.35 version. Until then (Fangoria lists it in their Future Undated section), the price is right for the import if you must have it.

For anyone still interested, I posted a comparison between the Sinema Diable and X-Rated DVDs with screencaps here at dvdbeaver.com.
