Title: Dark Sky announcements
Description: Bava, Franco

The Dark Sky catalog, which is in their new release of TRILOGY OF TERROR, lists the following two titles in a supplemental "Coming Soon" listing:
JESS FRANCO'S COUNT DRACULA (which I hope will be the elusive longer edition, matted properly)
KILL BABY KILL (which I hope will be letterboxed, with improved color values)
Also, JACK THE RIPPER is listed there, which I assume is the Baker-Berman 1960 film.
While I'm on the subject of Bava, has anyone heard anything more about Anchor Bay's proposed release of ERIK THE CONQUEROR?

as for EL CONDE DRACULA, I'd like to hear the alternate score (the Italian version was edited by Bruno Mattei).

Having more than one company solicit KILL BABY KILL - isn't Anchor Bay rumoured to be revisiting the Bava catalogue next year, with KILL BABY KILL the top contender for making amends regarding the few key botched / no-show titles from Image's initial attempt? - is all that movie needs, considering its troubled history of making it to disc in decent form previously. When Image initially announced their Bava titles years ago, there was a period when Elite, Image and VCI were all scheduled to have rival versions of KILL BABY KILL out on disc. Elite cancelled theirs, VCI brought out a just-passable edition, and Image's KILL BABY KILL slowly faded away. I'd hate to see a similar situation arise with Dark Sky and Anchor Bay each having dibs over KBK. Then again, maybe they can both bring out a version ala Shriek Show and BU's duelling ZOMBIE and fans can ponder the variant transfers and extras on each.

Not likely but a cool option for KILL BABY KILL would be to see it in black and white. There is a B&W trailer for the film on the Image disc of SWAMP OF THE RAVENS that makes it look like one of his early sixties films like BLACK SUNDAY or GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH.
Too bad some company didn't get the rights for KBK, MURDER CLINIC, and MALENKA (apparently picked up by BCI) and released them together with the additional option of seeing them in their cut forms as a triple feature (the FANGS cut of MALENKA actually used a brief instance of footage from KBK).

Does anyone know if Dark Sky is producing a new transfer, or using the so-called "international" version that already showed up on the Stomp Entertainment label. It's anamorphic, unlike the old VCI release, but does have its drawbacks. I would hope Dark Sky is using a new master, perhaps prepared for Monsters HD. I don't have access to the HD channel so I wouldn't know if it's common knowledge that this is the case.
